Dark brown woolen hat with braid

Beautiful hat, made of dark brown wool in six wedges. Every visible stitch is hand made with linen thread. Hat is bordered with green wool. Half lining of linen on the inside. 


This type of cap is known from iconography from the Viking times. Based on fabric fragments, it can be deduced that this type of cap was known in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries during the early Middle Ages.
It is an basic part of the Viking's outfit, it protected from the cold of the wind but also from the sun.
