Explore our collection of handmade Viking trousers for men and women, reconstructed from archaeological finds and sewn by hand from natural linen and wool.
The most documented Viking Age trousers come from the Thorsberg bog find (Denmark, c. 300–400 AD) and similar Norse sites. They were wide-cut, tied at the waist, and tapered toward the ankle — often worn with leg wraps (winningas) to keep them in place. All Othala Craft trousers are reconstructed directly from these archaeological sources.
Historical Viking trousers were made from woven wool or linen. Our collection includes both: lightweight linen trousers for warmer conditions and heavier wool versions for outdoor events and cold climates. All visible stitching is done by hand using linen thread, following authentic construction methods.
Archaeological evidence and historical sources show Vikings used plant-based dyes to colour their garments. Our trousers are available in historically plausible shades: natural undyed wool, dark blue, green, brown, beige and grey — colours achievable with woad, weld and other period-accurate dye plants.
Yes. Our trousers are worn by historical reenactors, LARP players and festival participants across Europe. They are designed for durability, comfort and historical accuracy. All items are in stock and ready to ship worldwide.
