Simple hat made of wool (100%) in diagonal pattern. Hat has four wedges, based on findings (Birka). Every visible stitch is hand made with linen thread. Half lining of linen on the inside. The hat is bordered with brocaded silk. This type of cap is known from iconography from the Viking times. Based on fabric fragments, it can be deduced that this type of cap was known in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries during the early Middle Ages. It is an basic part of the Viking's outfit, it protected from the cold of the wind but also from the sun. Circumference measured on the inside: girth 59,00 cm (23,23 in), deep 19,00 cm (7,48in).
