Interpretation of a Pillbox cap according to a find from Haithabu (Hedeby) dating to around 9th - 10th century. This type of cap is also known from iconography. The simple form of the cap, with a slight, bevelled shape. Cap trimmed with silk, the silk pattern has similar dating to the cap. The inner seams are machine stitched, all visible seams are hand stitched. Dimensions, cap circumference measured from inside 62,00 cm ( 24,41 in), cap height 11,00 cm (4,33 in).
