Interpretation of a Pillbox cap according to a find from Haithabu (Hedeby) dating to around 9th - 10th century. This type of cap is also known from iconography. The simple form of the cap, with a slight, bevelled shape. Made from dark blue wool in diagonal pattern. Cap trimmed with plant dyed linen (100%) with indigo in diamond pattern. The inner seams are machine stitched, all visible seams are hand stitched. Dimensions, cap circumference measured from inside 58,50 cm ( 22,83 in), cap height 10,50 cm (4,15 in).
