More info
The shape of the hood is based on a find from Skjoldehamn on the Norwegian island Angoya. It's made with two rectangles sewn to each other on top of the head. This find is dated as Viking Age. Definitely a good option as part of a northmen outfit, the hood provides good insulation against the cold. In the front and back two square wedges were set in. Sewn high under the throat to protect from wind and cold. Ideal for cold days. Hood made of dark orange wool. The inside was sewn with a machine, every visible stitch is hand made with linen thread.
Hood made from 100% wool in herring bone, edged with rusty brown 100% wool, from inside full lining made of soft herring bone wool 100%.
Length of hood 65cm (25,59in), wide 41cm (16,14in) Sized to fit both men's Viking costume and women's Viking-era costume.
