Viking Woolen hat (160122)

Simple hat made of brown and yellow wool (100%) in diagonal pattern. Hat has four wedges, based on findings (Birka). Every visible stitch is hand made with linen thread. Half lining of linen on the inside. The hat is bordered with linen (100%) in a diamond pattern.

The girth measured on the inside: Circumference measured on the inside: girth 61,00 cm (24,02 in), deep 21,00 cm (8,27 in).

This type of cap is known from iconography from the Viking times. Based on fabric fragments, it can be deduced that this type of cap was known in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries during the early Middle Ages. It is an basic part of the Vikingu2019s outfit, it protected from the cold of the wind but also from the sun.
