Women wool coat - Viking, Slavic, Larp, Vikings, Viking Age Klappenrock Haithabu Coat

Kaftan made of light brown wool with green trim (100% wool). Thicker fabric, wool compacted and warm. The edge is trimmed with green wool (100%). The cut of the coat is based on a find from Haithabu (Hedeby). The cut is geometric, based on a T-shape, with a slight undercut under the arms for a more comfortable fit. The cut is symmetrical at the front, with an undercut at the neck. The coat has two gussets, one on each side. The length reaches to the calf. The coat is fastened at the front with a brooch. The brooch is not for sale.

Coats of this type were worn over apron dresses in Viking times. They provided warmth while at the same time revealing the jewellery and beautiful ornaments of the apron dress. This shape of coat is comfortable and close to the body. Inside and outside stitches are hand-sewn with linen thread.
