Simple hat made of hand-woven wool (100%) in diamond pattern and (100%) wool in diagonal pattern. Hat has six wedges, based on findings (Birka). Every visible stitch is hand made with linen thread. Half lining of 100% linen on the inside. The girth measured on the inside:

Circumference measured on the inside: girth 57 cm (22,44 in), deep 19 cm (7,48 in).

This type of cap is known from iconography from the Viking times. Based on fabric fragments, it can be deduced that this type of cap was known in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries during the early Middle Ages. It is an basic part of the Vikingu2019s outfit, it protected from the cold of the wind but also from the sun.
