Viking Woolen hat – Red (160179)

A simple cap made of wool (100%) with a visible weave. Made from three colours of wool of medium thickness. The hat has six gussets, based on finds (Birka). Each visible stitch handmade with linen thread. Half-lining in 100% linen on the inside.

This type of cap is known from iconography from the Viking times. Based on fabric fragments, it can be deduced that this type of cap was known in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries during the early Middle Ages. It is an basic part of the Vikingu2019s outfit, it protected from the cold of the wind but also from the sun.
