Hat made of dark red and brown wool (94%). Hat has six wedges, based on findings (Birka). Every visible stitch is hand made with linen thread. Half lining of linen on the inside. The hat is bordered with burgundy red wool in a diamond pattern. Wool was hand weaved.

The girth measured on the inside: Circumference measured on the inside: girth 60,00 cm (23,62 in), deep 19,00 cm (7,48 in).

This type of cap is known from iconography from the Viking times. Based on fabric fragments, it can be deduced that this type of cap was known in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries during the early Middle Ages. It is an basic part of the Viking's outfit, it protected from the cold of the wind but also from the sun.
