Viking hat in Woolwith braid - Slavic hat, Medieval, Larp, Fantasy, Wikinger, SCA

Simple hat made of wool (100%) in dark brown plain weave. Hat has four wedges, based on findings (Birka). Every visible stitch is hand made with linen thread. Half lining of linen on the inside.  Trimmed with brick-green wool with a herringbone weave, also 100%. 

This type of cap is known from iconography from the Viking times. Based on fabric fragments, it can be deduced that this type of cap was known in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries during the early Middle Ages. It is an basic part of the Viking's outfit, it protected from the cold of the wind but also from the sun.
