Decorative Viking tunic made of beige wool with a herringbone pattern (100%). High-quality wool, medium weight, pleasant to the touch.
The cut is based on a find from Birka (Sweden), 8th-9th century. Made of two rectangles, with square gussets under the arms and gussets on the sides. The fabric was washed before sewing. However, it is wool and may shrink slightly after washing, so I recommend hand washing in cool water. The inner seams are machine-made, all visible seams are hand-made. On the front of the tunic there are two large, hand-made embroideries made of woolen threads, measuring 13 cm x 6 cm (5.12 inches x 2.36 inches). The threads used for the embroidery have been dyed with plants. The embroidery motif dates back to the 7th century, from a boat burial in Sutton Hoo, Great Britain. The motif is classified as Vendel-style ornamentation.
